Born February 15, 1921 in Washington DC, Fr. Bernard Harding's actual full name was Lee Aloysius Harding. He was baptized on March 6, 1921 at the Church of the Holy Name in Washington DC.
He graduated Eastern High School in Washington DC in 1939. He then studied Philosophy at DeMatha College in Hyattsville, Maryland. He also studied at Holy Name College, Washington DC; Catholic University of American, Washington DC; and Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois. He received an MA in Secondary Education from Catholic University.
He took his Solemn Vows on September 10, 1944 at St. John DeMatha Monastary in Hyattsville, Maryland.
He was ordained to the priesthood on June 10, 1947 at the National Shrine in Washington DC by the Most Rev. John McNamara, administrator of the Archdiocese of Maryland.
He became the pastor of St. Lawrence Church in 1978 until 1990. He retired to Stella Maris in August of 1990 and to Pikesville in 1995.
He passed away September 13, 1997.
